A great campground with sites that are big and spread out so you don't feel like you are right on top of your neighbors. We love Texas State Parks and this is our first time staying at Corp Of Engineer's Park. This campground is as good as any Texas State Park we have stayed at. The only negative is due to the drought the lake is very, very low so the sites are now a long ways to the water's edge. A great place; do not hesitate to stay there.

Lake Bastrop was a fairly nice place. This is the first LCRA (Lower Colorado River Authority) park we have stayed at. Each site had a concrete pad, a fire ring, picnic table, and a grill. We stayed at site 17 which is level side to side but needed a little adjustment front to rear. Site 17 also backs right up to the lake. The staff was friendly and helpful. The reason I didn’t rate the experience higher than a 7 was two things. 1) The lake is way too warm to be swimming in July. It was like bath water. I had heard Lake Bastrop was warm, but I didn’t expect this temperature. 2) We went on a few of the hiking trails, and the horseflies just about carried us off. Unless you want to fish in the warm lake, stay at Bastrop State Park right door.

We had a great experience at Blanco State Park which is located in Blanco, Texas about 60 miles west of Austin. The park is probably the smallest state park (about 100 acres) we have visited in Texas. All of the sites appeared to be shaded and level. There are two camp site loops. Sites 1-10 are all full hookups. Sites 11 - 31 have some full hookup and some water and electricity only. On the 11-31 loop, the sites on the inside (11, 12, 14, 16, 21, 23, 25, 27 and 31) are full hookup. We camped on site 27 which was level and shady. All of the sites are spread out so you have a fair bit of distance between you and your neighbors. All of the facilities at the park were very well maintained and very clean. I spoke with the park host, Alton Bell, and he said he had been the park host each year for about 3 to 6 months for the past 9 years. That says a lot about the park and its employees. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again. Since the park is small and close to Austin and San Antonio it is usually booked so make your reservations well in advance of your stay.

Inks Lake is a great campground. We had a blast and this is probably our favorite Texas campground so far. There is tons to do from and the area is just beautiful. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming and fishing in the lake. The only reason I didn't rate it a 10 was that 3 of the bathhouses were under renovation and were unusable making the one in our area of the park extremely busy and crowded on a memorial day weekend. We will definitely stay at Inks Lake again!

This is a great park. It is located close to town on Highway 16 to the south. I would say that about 70% of the sites were occupied. The sites were spaced very nicely with plenty of room so we didn't not feel crowed at all. Bob the park host was very nice and helped us get settled in. He came by twice during our stay to check in on us. A very nice fellow. The park is well kept and we enjoyed walking down by the creek and the nature trail. Our daughter enjoyed the play ground equipment near the golf course. All of the basics worked well (power, water, sewer). We took our kayak and enjoyed a short run down the creek from one dam to the next damn. The park is next to the city airport and we did hear planes coming and going. We probably heard about 4 or 5 a day (we stayed for 2 nights). If you are going to Fredericksburg, this is the place to stay.

Davis Mountains State Park is a wonderful place. We stayed in site 10, and it is a great site. It is not completely level, but we easily compensated for a slight decline (front to rear). Our site had full hookups including cable TV and a nice picnic table underneath a grand old oak tree. We enjoyed the hiking and mountain bike trails. The deer were extremely friendly and came by our site each morning and evening looking for food. (Please don't feed them.) We attended an hour long session on owls at the interpretive center. The elder gentleman that gave the presentation was outstanding. We laughed quite a bit and learned quite a bit as well. We also drove over the the McDonald Observatory on Friday night for the Star Party. We highly recommend this if you have children as they will really enjoy it.

This is a great KOA campground. It is easily accessed from Interstate 10. Most of the sites are pull through, and quite a few are on the river front. Almost all of them have a view of the river. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We only stayed one night on our way to Big Bend National Park. The only negative thing I have to say is there is a little bit of road noise from the bridge over the Llano river if you are in one of the sites next to bridge.

Note: The name of the RV Park is "Maverick Ranch" and it is part of the Lajitas Resort. We stayed at Maverick Ranch for 3 nights on our trip to Big Bend National Park. We found the RV park to be nice, but in need of a little maintenance. Please don't take this the wrong way, the site is not run down, but some of the hook up stations needed a little work. We stayed in site 82 and had no problems with water, power and cable TV. One of the other people we met there said they had to move to a different site due to a power issue at their first site. The common building with the showers and bathrooms was immaculate. The pool area and porch around it was gorgeous. There were about 15 other RVs there in addition to us. All of the sites are level, the majority of them are pull through. The views of the surrounding mountains are great. It is a great place to watch the sun go down in the evening. We also found the location to be excellent. It is about a 30 minute drive into Big Bend National Park. The Lajitas resort changed ownership recently and they opened up the RV area to any RV. The previous management team had restricted access to Class A rigs only. As for RV parks near Big Bend I believe this is the best. We looked at the other parks in Study Butte and Terlingua and they looked pitiful compared to Lajitas. Our stay here was problem free and we will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Big Bend.

This is a great campground. We had a wonderful time exploring the state park and the surrounding area. We were there for three days and thoroughly enjoyed it. In the area where we camped, the sites were level and easy pull-throughs. We had a fair bit of rain while we were there, but flooding was not a problem. Each camp site has a fire pit and picnic table. We highly recommend Goliad State Park. You won't regret staying there.
